Katana reborn

I think I mentioned previously that I never really got on with the colour scheme on the Katana – the Rizla look and paint was great, but the yellow frame was messy and it hadn’t been braced. A leaky clutch reservoir that stripped some paint on the tanks sealed my decision and its transformation began.

First is was stripped down, the frame sent off for some bracing to help with the extra power, plans from the Old Skool Suzuki site helping here. Some black power coating later and we had a stronger frame and a much cleaner looking one. I took this opportunity to repaint the bike, it had become a bit of a mash-up over the years, so it made sense to tidy it whilst stripped. I also added some dyna coils and dyna 2000 ignition to perks things up. It’s currently running a long arm – I wanted the drag look, but it was a bit too long so I switched it back, the K6 gixer arm is sufficient. Paint-wise I went for a custom grey/blue and black/red decals.
